Yeah, I know this post was supposed to be done on Friday, but due to our unfortunate internet outage (*shudder*) I wasn’t able to post.  Last week was a reasonably productive writing week.  I got a lot of research and thinking done on my novel.  I worked on my other story and decided to let it go for a while.  I can’t even remember what I read –  let’s see: another Alexander McCall Smith #1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (I am now ready for the last one), Stephenie Meyer’s The Host (which I really loved because the story carried me along and I couldn’t wait to see what happened), and half of Getting Things Done.  Ironically, people kept interrupting me while I was reading Getting Things Done. I also read, for novel research, part of The Graceful Guru — a collection of essays about women gurus in the U. S. and India.  Really, really interesting stuff.  My mind is swirling with thought and ideas for my novel, which of course means I have no writing time.  My mom is visiting and I haven’t been able to sneak away to my office and write.  Well, except right now!

The good news is that I am going crazy because I haven’t had enough writing time.  Why is this good news? Well, because it means I am in the habit of writing… just like some people feel awful if they don’t exercise enough (not me, I feel perfectly fine if I just sit around on the couch all the time), I get a sort of “itch” to be writing and I become noticeably grumpy if I can’t write a little bit, even just a blog entry, every day. My mind doesn’t feel clear if I’m not writing.

Even just having written this, I feel better.  Aaaaaah… let’s see if tomorrow I can get something more substantial done.
