We’ve got the champagne, the snacks, and, of course, the grapes for the Spanish midnight tradition. We’ll see if this year I can manage to eat all those grapes without laughing so hard that I choke!
And then tomorrow: WoYoPracMo! Yup, it’s the big kickoff of the “practice yoga every day in January” project, and it’s not too late for YOU to sign up if you haven’t already! A really great community is building over there — we have over 120 yogis of all traditions and experience levels. We have artist yogis, knitting yogis, writing yogis, lawyer yogis, mom and dad yogis, surfing yogis, computer geek yogis, brand-new yogis, oldtimer yogis and many others! There are prizes for a drawing among the successful finishers! Check it out, if you haven’t already!
A very Happy New Year to all of you!!

The trick is to give each grape one good bite and then swallow it inmediately. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Wayne — the pleasure is all mine! Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
Vanessa — That’s my problem! I’ve been chewing too much! I will try your technique tonight!

Yogamum and Vanessa — be careful not to choke on those grapes!
Happy New Year, one and all!

A very Happy New Year to you — although I’ll have to be the one to ask — what is the Spanish tradition with grapes?

Lisa, you have to eat one grape per strike of the bell (in Spain everyone goes by the clock in Plaza del Sol in Madrid. First there is a ball that comes down, then four double-bell quarters, then the twelve strikes). If you manage to do it in sync with the clock, your wish comes true.
I have to proudly report that not only I ate the grapes in time, but actually remembered to make a wish!

I’m usually trying so hard to eat the grapes that I forget to make a wish!
